ITINERARY & FAQ

*Itinerary subject to change as we improve and enhance the experience

Today your flight lands in Bali. Upon arrival at the airport, you'll be escorted via private transfer to our luxury accommodations in the center of Ubud, known as a cultural hub for traditional crafts and Balinese performance. The surrounding rainforest and terraced rice paddies, sprinkled with temples and shrines, are some of what make Bali such a sought after destination.

Meals included: None

Every day starts with an optional morning yoga class, followed by breakfast. Then, we're off to explore for the day!

Today, enjoy some of the best shopping in the world and partake in exquisite spa treatments (where you can enjoy a 90-minute traditional Balinese massage for less than $20!).  We'll offer to lead you on a stroll through the mystical Monkey Forest (a sanctuary for hundreds of Balinese long-tailed Macaques), where you can immerse yourself in nature just steps from our hotel. We can discuss key aspects of culture, acquaint you with the layout of Ubud and, then, point you towards the Yoga Barn, where teachers and students from around the globe come together to enjoy their practice. Join us for this brief "orientation of Ubud" or, if you prefer, set out at your own pace and find your own path.

Did I mention the shopping is out of this world? You'll probably need another suitcase to check on your way home, because the Balinese put thought and creativity into everything they do, from their clothing, to their wood carvings, to their jewelry and batiks.

This evening, we'll come back together for a special welcome dinner.

Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

After our optional morning yoga class, we'll enjoy another wonderful breakfast at our hotel restaurant, recognized as one of the best in Ubud, known for it's "impeccable service", "great coffee", "fabulous food", and "beautiful view".

Our accommodations and in-house restaurant should leave nothing to be desired.

Then, we're off to explore the country-side with an all-day, private, guided tour, including rice field treks, waterfalls and more.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

Today, you will have plenty of free time to continue exploring Ubud and (if you choose to join us) you will have the opportunity to participate in a batik-making workshop with some of our dearest, personal friends in Ubud. "Batik", a process of creating designs on fabric with wax, is one of the art forms for which Bali is most well-known.

This evening, join us at the Ubud Palace for a Legong Dance performance. Legong is one of Bali's "most visually alluring performances" with intricate finger movements, complex footwork, and intimate facial expressions.

Both experiences will help you to fully appreciate the art, carvings, clothing, and ceremonies you'll catch glimpses of everywhere in Bali.

Meals included: Breakfast

Today our guides will take us on another private tour of Bali, so that we can further acquaint ourselves with The Island of the Gods.

Meal included: Breakfast, Lunch

This morning, we will depart for the coastal town of Amed, stopping along the way to enjoy the black sand beaches of Candi Dasa, where we'll also stop for lunch. The drive will take us further into the island’s rustic interior with epic views and surprise stops along the way, as we skirt around the base of Bali’s volcanic Mount Agung.

Upon arrival in Amed, we’ll settle into pleasant accommodations and enjoy a relaxing, sea-breezy evening.  With luck, we’ll see a horizon full of the inverted sails, unique to the local fishermen’s ‘prahus’ (out-rigger canoes), as they return from a long day at sea.

Meals included: Breakfast

Today is a free day with a number of fantastic options. Explore Amed. Get up early to watch the village fishermen set out before dawn; arrange an authentic fishing trip or snorkel excursion, by boat; or just dive into some world-class snorkeling, right from shore, in one of Amed’s many sheltered coves. If you're into scuba diving, Amed is known for its healthy corals and colorfully abundant marine life. The diving community is vast, world-renowned, and there are numerous dive locations to which SCUBA excursions could be arranged.

OR... just relax... Meditate to the rhythm of the sea, soak up sun & shade by the pool, and/or indulge in another top notch spa experience at our hotel, where you can partake in another too-good-to-be-true, inexpensive spa treatment.

Meals included: Breakfast

Today we say ‘goodbye’ to Amed and take scenic roads back to Ubud, with exciting and unique stops along the way.

Meals included: Breakfast

Today is our last optional scheduled tour with our own private guide, whose mission is to ensure we don't miss out on any of what it is that makes Bali one of the most popular destinations in the world.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

Today is our last free day in Bali to, again, do as much or as little as you want. If you're on a mission to do and see it all, you should already be feeling pretty complete by now. One of the best things to do in Ubud is simply wander and see where you end up. The people of Bali are so friendly and accommodating, you'll probably have made a few friends by now (in addition to the ones you'll have undoubtedly made in our group!).

Grab one more massage. Hit up that restaurant you loved so much earlier in the trip. Go back to the one store you couldn't resist. Let us help you arrange a cooking class. Hang out by the pool and read a book or, simply, relax and digest all of the amazing experiences you've had so far.

And don't be surprised if you find  yourself fantasizing about staying in Bali, or planning your return visit as soon as humanly possible.

Meals included: Breakfast

This morning, enjoy one more yoga class in Bali, followed by your last breakfast with the group. Enjoy whatever free time you have left, depending on when your flight leaves, before being escorted in a private transfer back to the airport.

Meals included: Breakfast

We can't book our flights until we are within 11 months of our departure date. So we have plenty of time. Before you book your flight, check with me. We want to make sure you arrive and depart on the right day, and I may be able to negotiate a group rate for us.

In the past we have paid anywhere from $1,100 - $1,600 for round trip airfare to Bali.

Bali uses the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Currently, USD $1 is equal to about 15,000 IDR. Of course, the exchange rate fluctuates daily, but usually not by much.

All major currencies can be exchanged at the airport and banks. You can also find ATMs throughout Ubud. We will guide you more on this as we get closer to our travel dates.

Tipping in Bali isn't customary or expected, but it's always appreciated.

However, all hotels and most restaurants already include a 17-21% tax and service charge in your bill, so it's up to you if you want to add anything more than that.

When it comes to tipping drivers and guides, it's a nice gesture, but not required.

Once you get to Bali, everything is actually quite inexpensive. Breakfast is included every day, as well as some other meals. Outside of that, even an indulgent meal shouldn't cost you more than $10. Spas are everywhere in Bali, and you can enjoy a 90-minute traditional Balinese massage for less than $20. Of course, when it comes to food and spa treatments, you can certainly spend more than that if you want to. But it isn't necessary.

The shopping in Bali is amazing, and that's likely where you'll spend the most money (if you let yourself), but even that is usually a bargain. And, tipping isn't really a thing here, although they certainly don't mind if you leave them your change.

Point is, once you're here the biggest expenses are already behind you.

June is a great time to visit Bali. It's the dry season. In Ubud, days are warm and sunny (in the 80's), and evenings cool down with a fresh breeze (into the 70's). At the coast, we can expect it to be a bit warmer and more humid.

We'll also experience fewer crowds as June is considered "shoulder season", meaning slightly off the peak season of July and August.

The Indonesian island of Bali offers a tropical climate and, located just eight degrees south of the equator, temperatures stay warm year round.

Shorts and tank tops (or sundresses) and sandals are ideal most of the time. However, in order to enter the temples we'll be expected to cover our shoulders, chest and knees. For a minimal fee, most temples in Ubud will give you a sash or sarong to wear around your waist (taking care of your knees), but bringing a sarong to wear around your shoulders is usually sufficient.  You will, no doubt, find more than one sarong you will want to purchase in Bali, anyway!

We have selected comfortable 3.5 -4-star boutique hotels, with on-site restaurants and spas, for your convenience, while ensuring an authentic Balinese experience.

Our hotel in Ubud is centrally located, making it easy to explore the surrounding area on foot.

This trip is for those who love to experience other cultures and have a curiosity, interest, and respect for the people they meet on their travels.

This is not a 5-star luxury trip (or needlessly expensive), but rather more of a 4-star boutique experience.

We won't be watching from the sidelines, we will be immersed in the experience of it all.

We've purposefully crafted a very intentional balance between private guided tours and plenty of free time to roam, wander, and explore; relax by the pool; get a massage (or several); shop; or do whatever draws you at the moment. That's one of the best things about traveling and exploring new places; it's easy and so wonderful to lose yourself in the moment.

We'll offer plenty of support to help you get the most out of your time in Bali. Interested in a cooking class? That's easy to make happen. Want to visit the Monkey Forest or go shopping? All of that is within walking distance of our hotel.

One of the beauties of Bali is how affordable it is. You can enjoy a lovely meal for $5-6 dollars, and a traditional Balinese massage is easily less than $20 USD.

While you'll enjoy the relaxed pace, you also get to participate in as much or as little as you want.

And if you feel like 11 days just isn't enough time, ask us about the optional extension trip. You've already come this far. Why not make the most of your time here?

That's what I'm here for! Call 407-383-4196 or email [email protected] with all your questions, and let's get you one step closer to a trip of a lifetime!
